Remnants of green

This handmade textile art piece is soft, subtle, and rich in curious detail. A backdrop of raw linen sets the scene, highlighting a piece of green naturally dyed NZ merino wool. Fine stitching adds texture and depth to the lightweight surface, creating a gentle collage that honours the beauty and history wool.

The layout is guided by chance, I drop the coloured piece of wool and let the placement reveal its self. This intuitive method is inspired by Matisse and his playful approach to composition. The process becomes a meditation on material, movement, and trust in simplicity.

Thoughtfully made, this emotive piece can be hung as textile art to bring stillness, warmth, and texture to any space. Rooted in traditional embroidery techniques with a refined modern sensibility, it celebrates the tone, texture and elegance of natural materials and handcraft.
