Incandescence

This handmade textile art piece is soft, subtle, and rich in curious detail. Crafted from repurposed silk, it features seven layers of hand stitched swatches in tones of soft pink, purple, tan and blue atop a white raw silk base. Fine stitching adds texture and depth to the lightweight surface, creating a gentle collage that honours the beauty and history of fabric.

The layout is guided by chance, I drop the coloured silk pieces and let their placements reveal themselves. This intuitive method is inspired by Matisse and his playful approach to composition. The process becomes a meditation on material, movement, and trust in simplicity.
